She smashed the 100m hurdles world record in the semifinals, then ran even faster in the finals to win a gold medal just a few hours later. The 25-year-old almost gave up on her dream after finishing fourth in the previous Olympics and World Championships. “She’s been close to throwing in the towel," says her friend, Danielle Williams of Jamaica, who finished sixth. "To see her come out here and do this right now, it’s amazing.”

Exciting news for animal lovers! Lolita, one of the oldest killer whales in captivity, will finally be returning to her home waters in the Pacific after more than 50 years. The Miami Seaquarium, where Lolita was being held, has signed an agreement with the non-profit group Friends of Lolita to relocate the orca to an ocean sanctuary in Washington state. The move is set to take place in the next 18 to 24 months with assistance from philanthropist Jim Irsay.
