Watch the Incredible Moment This Humpback Whale Was Freed From 450 Feet of Tangled Rope

A humpback whale in Canada’s Nanoose Bay had 450 feet of tangled rope and fishing gear removed in a recent six-hour rescue operation.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada released footage showing a humpback whale identified as “Wiggins” being freed near Nanoose Bay.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada said the gear trailing Wiggins was tagged by their officers after the mammal was spotted by the Vancouver Island Whale Watching Association.

“This enabled our marine mammal rescue team and whale protection teams to track and locate the animal,” the organization said.
