Fluffy New Recruit Joins Washington County Sheriff’s Office as Therapy Dog

Washington County Sheriff’s Office welcomed the newest member of its team - a golden retriever named Penny.

The sheriff’s office shared this footage of the small and fluffy pup running around the office and playing with toys.

“As a therapy dog, Penny will provide support to victims and witnesses during difficult interviews, help reduce anxiety in high-pressure situations and support the overall wellness of our deputies and staff,” it said.

“Penny will also play an important role in community engagement and offering a friendly and approachable presence at public events.

“Thank you to Franks’ Field & Family, who donated Penny, and Soldiers 6, who is guiding her training. We’re excited to see the positive impact Penny will make for years to come—because sometimes therapy comes with a tail.”
