This Mother Duck was Just Rescued From a 'Life-Threatening Situation' on a Frozen Lake

A duck trapped from a “life-threatening situation” on an ice-covered lake was rescued by military firefighters.

Footage released on January 14 by Romania’s Tulcea Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISU Tulcea) shows the rescue operation, involving a boat, on the frozen Lake Ciuperca.

The duck was “without the strength to stand,” ISU Tulcea said.

“Because the ice caught by her fur was life-threatening, our colleagues decided to bring her to the inspector’s headquarters, where she was kept in a shelter until she regained her strength,” they added.

The duck’s duckling managed to free itself before help arrived.
