Lost for 97 Years, A Rediscovered Magnolia Tree is Giving Hope in Haiti
The discovery of a long-lost magnolia tree species in Haiti has given conservationists hope that the country's montane forests can be rewilded. The northern Haiti magnolia (Magnolia emarginata) was first discovered in 1925 and is considered critically endangered. A team of explorers recently found 16 adult trees in an isolated forested ravine, as well as juvenile trees, giving them hope for a viable population of this once-lost species. Haiti National Trust is now planning a seed collection trip to begin a conservation program for the tree.

She has travelled 10,000km over 6 months painting beautiful portraits of 2,765 brave women who lost two or more family members during the war. For each portrait she captures details about their lives and stories for future generations. The portraits are handed over to the families with a stamp of authenticity from the local government.
