Thailand is Bringing a Digital Twist to Its Ancient Floating Basket Festival

In a creative and environmentally friendly twist on Thailand's traditional Loy Krathong festival, children crafted virtual rafts and sent them floating down digital rivers. The Loy Krathong festival involves sending small baskets, known as 'krathongs,' down waterways with flowers, candles, and bamboo to make wishes and pay respects to water spirits. This year, participants drew about 3,000 pictures of krathongs, scanned them into computers, and projected the designs onto a representation of the water's surface, reducing waste and the need for cleanup.
