Kenya's Expansion of the World's First Malaria Vaccine is Giving Hope to Millions
The fight against malaria has made a significant step forward in Kenya as the country has announced it's expanding its use of the world’s first-ever malaria vaccine! Over a million doses of the vaccine have been administered since a 2019 pilot program was launched, and it has seen a phased introduction in Kenya since then. The Health Ministry is now extending the vaccine to an additional 25 sub-counties in lake-endemic regions, free of charge, and is aiming to offer it to an additional 133,000 infants in lake-endemic counties.

She has travelled 10,000km over 6 months painting beautiful portraits of 2,765 brave women who lost two or more family members during the war. For each portrait she captures details about their lives and stories for future generations. The portraits are handed over to the families with a stamp of authenticity from the local government.

These Colorful Community Murals Are Inspiring Others to Take Climate Action

The mural designs were created with the help of residents who responded to a public call-out and attended workshops with professional mural artists. Aaron Reeves, a former resource officer at the school, had read about Leon Hammond's need for a kidney transplant and got tested, only to find out that he was a perfect match. The transplant finally happened in February 2023, and both men are doing well, and even got matching shirt that read "Kidney Buddies for Life" to commemorate the occasion.
