50 Years Later, Lolita the Whale is Finally Going Home to Free Waters

Exciting news for animal lovers! Lolita, one of the oldest killer whales in captivity, will finally be returning to her home waters in the Pacific after more than 50 years. The Miami Seaquarium, where Lolita was being held, has signed an agreement with the non-profit group Friends of Lolita to relocate the orca to an ocean sanctuary in Washington state. The move is set to take place in the next 18 to 24 months with assistance from philanthropist Jim Irsay.
