Heroic Firefighter’s Cliffside Rescue: Labrador Loui's Daring Return to Safety

A California firefighter rescued a dog from a ledge “25 feet down a sheer cliff face” on Monday, July 21, officials said.

Cal Fire published this footage showing Fire Apparatus Engineer Cory Souza rescuing Loui, a yellow Labrador, at Ross Cove.

Officials described the rescue as a “Firefighter’s Labour-dor of love.”

Loui was reunited with his owner, they said.

They reminded pet owners to keep dogs on a leash on the cliffs. They said: “This particular beach is a ‘no-dog zone.’ The precious marine reserve and its harbor seal rookery need to be protected.”
