Adorable Snow Leopard Cub Takes First Steps in Zoo Habitat Adventure
Chester Zoo has celebrated a milestone, as the first snow leopard cub ever born at the facility in its 94-year history took her inaugural steps outside her den.
The 10-week-old female cub is named Bheri, after a river in Nepal that flows through the Himalayas. Footage released by the zoo on August 28 shows her exploring the zoo’s purpose-built Himalayan habitat.
“After several weeks of watching Nubra and her cub behind the scenes on our cameras, it’s just fantastic to see Nubra gently guide her precious cub into the outside world for the very first time,” Rachael Boatwright, assistant team manager of carnivores, said.
Bheri was born to parents Nubra and Yashin, who arrived at the zoo last year.
